Pendants

The White Tern is a small seabird found across the world’s tropical oceans. Though small in stature, their reputation as one of the most beautiful seabirds precedes them. From the breath-taking white plumage to the contrasting black eye rings and beaks with blue bases, these terns are admired across their natural range.

In the Maldives, they are known as "Dhondheeni" or "Kandhuvalu" and are almost exclusively found in the southernmost atoll of Addu (Seenu). They are a symbol of pride for Adduans and are often used as an emblem of Addu City.

White Terns are often monogamous and will remain as a pair for many seasons. Their elaborate aerial courtship is a sight to behold, with the male soaring high into the sky, followed by the female, before the pair spiral down in a graceful dance.

Manta Rays are an icon of the Maldives. From the humble Reef Manta Ray to their more elusive cousins, the Giant Oceanic Manta Ray, these marine behemoths have a safe haven in our crystal clear waters. The Maldives is home to five of the seven species of the world’s marine turtles. From the rare Olive Ridley to gargantuan Leatherback, sea turtles have graced our seas and shores with their presence for aeons. Though they have been traditionally hunted for their meat, eggs and shells, the mentality toward these amazing creatures have been gradually changing over the past few decades. With the combined efforts of conservationists, scientists and the authorities, many sanctuaries now exist in the Maldives. Their efforts have shown to be fruitful, as turtle numbers have been making a comeback and becoming a common sight for divers and snorkelling enthusiasts. 

The Turtle Pendant was inspired by the most common yet arguably the most beautiful native sea turtle - the Hawksbill.

The wily Grey Heron has always held a place of importance in Maldivian folklore. From the folk stories of “Maakana Kalo” to modern incarnations in political satire, the Maakana or the Grey Heron has always played the role of an intelligent and cunning character. This is seemingly true upon sighting a heron on the beach, standing on one leg, in deep thought. 

The Heron Pendant captures the intelligence and perseverance of this magnificent creature.

The manta ray is undoubtedly one of the most elegant creatures in the ocean. This collection of the manta ray pendants aim to capture the elegance in two bold colours. A perfect accessory to accentuate a strong yet refined sensibility.

The cross section of the nautilus shell is symbolic of the logarithmic spiral or the “eternal line”, presenting itself in nature. Once the matte layer with the stripes is removed, a second, strikingly iridescent layer is revealed. The Nautilus Pendants pay tribute to the beautiful ancient creatures and their art-inspiring shells.

Giant clams, or Gaa’haka, as they are known in the Maldives, are found in shallow coral reefs and lagoons, and they are an important part of the ecosystem in the Maldives.
